Martha Routh was the daughter of Henry and Jane Winter of Stourbridge, Worcestershire. Having received a guarded etucation
she went to Nottingham in 1760 to run a boarding school for Friends children.
When she was 30 she was acknowledged a minister, and in 1775 she accompanied Ruth Fallows on a tour of the northern counties and Scotland.
After her marriage to Richard Routh she moved to Manchester, and in later years visited Scotland, Ireland and the United States of America.
1804 came with her husband to live at New Bedford• Mass. However. he died during travels later that year in New York and she then returned to England.
She died in 1817 aged 74, a minister for 45 years.
d. July 18, 1817 in London. aged 74 years.
