Elinor Claire "Lin" Ostrom (née Awan; August 7, 1933 – June 12, 2012); She attended UCLA, receiving a B.A. (with honors) in political science at UCLA in 1954; She was admitted to UCLA's graduate program in political science, where she was awarded an M.A. in 1962 and a PhD in 1965; married political scientist Vincent Ostrom in 1963; moved to Bloomington, Indiana in 1965, when Vincent accepted a political science professorship at Indiana University; She joined the faculty as Visiting Assistant Professor; In 2009, Ostrom became the first woman to receive the prestigious Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences; late-career affiliation with Arizona State University;
