Lawrence Washington was the eldest son and 5th child of 7 children born to Lt-Col CSA John Augustine Washington, III the last private owner of Mount Vernon Estate, Fairfax County, Virginia which he sold to the Mount Vernon Ladies Association in 1858, and by His wife Eleanor Love(born @ Loudoun County, Virginia 12 April 1824 & died @ "Waveland" Marshall, Fauquier County, Virginia 9 October 1860) only daughter & heiress of Col Wilson Cary Selden & by his wife Louisa Elizabeth Fontaine Alexander. John Augustine Washington, III was Aide-de-Camp to General Robert E. Lee He was in a skirmish at the Battle of Cheat Mountain, Randolph County, Virginia now West Virginia and died a few days after on 13 Sept. 1861 leaving his 7 children orphaned his younger brother, Richard Scott Blackburn Washington took on the Responsibility's of raising not only his own 7 children but also his older brother's 7 children. Lawrence Washington was born @ Mount Vernon, Fairfax County, Virginia 14 Jan 1854 & married @ Charles Town, Jefferson County, West Virginia 14 June 1876, Fannie(born @ Riverside, Jefferson County, W Virginia 17 May 1855; died @ Washington, D.C. 26 March 1953), daughter of Thomas Griggs Lackland of Charles Town, by his wife Martha Ellen Willis (sister of Emma Edwards (Willis) Washington wife of Bushrod Corbin Washington see memorial #(44053417) @ died at Washington, D.C. 28 Jan 1920.
