Wallace McCamant was born in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania in 1867. He was educated at Lafayette College, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, read law with a Lancaster firm, and was admitted to the bar in 1890. He came to Oregon in 1890 and practiced law. He was appointed to the Oregon Supreme Court in 1916, resigned in 1918, and resumed private law practice.
