Clement William Scott was born in 1841 in London, England; attended Marlborough College, and became a clerk at the War office in 1860; became author and drama critic, contributing pieces to the Daily telegraph, Sunday times, Weekly dispatch, London Figaro, The observer, and others; after retiring from the civil service in 1879, he joined the staff of the Daily telegraph as drama critic, and also became editor of the Theatre in 1880; adapted French plays for the London stage; published works include Lays of a Londoner (1882), Lays and lyrics (1888), The drama of yesterday and to-day (1899), and Ellen Terry (c1900); he died in 1904.Maybe-Same Assertions
