Clement Andrew Smith (1901-1998) was a pediatrician at Boston Lying-In Hospital, later known as Boston Hospital for Women and then Brigham and Women's Hospital, in Boston, Mass. Smith's research focused on newborn infants including fetal and neonatal physiology, perinatalogy, including maternal malnutrition; and the effect of humidity on water balance and respiration. Smith's research contributed to the founding of the specialty of neonatalogy in the 1960s.
