Constellation Similarity Assertions
Costansó, Miguel
Engineer, cartographer, and historian.
Costansó came to New Spain in 1764 and worked in the Corps of Engineers, during which time he produced important drawings of the Port of San Blas for the viceroy. His extensive knowledge of the Mexican coastline made him a valuable member of numerous expeditions to explore and occupy Alta California between 1768 and 1770. He also advised the viceroy on population and defense matters of California, designed presidios and government buildings, and served as municipal engineer of Mexico City. Nothing is known of his life after 1802.
