Cunningham was born 1855 Aug. 25 to Moses W. and Nancy Caroline (Russell) Cunningham at Mt. Hope, Lawrence Co., Ala. He married Sue L. Moore on 1876 Aug. 13. After his first wife died, he married Annice Taylor in Birmingham. In 1878 he entered Bellevue Hospital Medical College in New York City. He served as Ala.
