Rancher Andrew John Swenson (1863–1953) was born in Nässjö, Jönköping Province, Sweden, and immigrated to a Swedish settlement in Williamson County, Texas, when he was eighteen. A year later, he moved to Stamford to work for his uncle, Swante (Swen) Magnus Swenson. In 1889, Swenson married Selma Augusta Anderson, with whom he had five sons.
