Ira Obed Schaub (1880-1971) was a chemist, educator, USDA field agent and administrator. Dean of the School of Agriculture at North Carolina State University, 1926-1945. Director of the North Carolina Agricultural Extension Service, 1924-1950. Director of North Carolina Agricultural Experiment Station,1937-1940. Graduated in 1900 from North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (later North Carolina State University). One of the original founders of the "Corn Clubs" in North Carolina which later evolved into the 4-H club, wherein he served as a 4-H extension agent, 1909-1913.

Ira Obed Schaub (1880-1971) was born in Stokes County, North Carolina, on September 28, 1880. The fourth of five sons of William Henry and Mary Grabs Schaub, he attended Pinnacle Academy in the town of Pinnacle, North Carolina. From 1896 to 1900, he attended North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (later North Carolina State University) and was one of the college's first graduates, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry.
