Samuel Bixby (1755-1848) of Sutton, Mass., served as a private in the Massachusetts militia, first in Isaac Bolster's company in Col. Ebenezer Learned's regiment, and later in John Putnam's company in Col. Whitney's regiment. He later served in the campaign at Bennington, Vermont, and Saratoga.
