Stacy, Albert, 1821-1868
Bookseller and stationer of Concord, Mass. Born in Concord, Mar. 17, 1821, son of bookbinder and bookseller John Stacy (1790-1866); died in Waverley, Mass., Apr. 29, 1868. John Stacy kept his bindery and bookstore on the Mill Dam in Concord until 1849, then turned over the bookstore to his son Albert. In addition to books and stationery, Albert sold fancy goods, cutlery, engravings, foreign toys, wallpaper, soap, sheet music, frames, and sundry other items. He also kept a rental library (Stacy's Circulating Library) in his store and issued printed catalogs listing its holdings and items.
(Cont.) that he offered for sale. Like his father before him, Albert Stacy kept the post office for Concord in his store, serving as Postmaster from 1849 to 1853 and from 1861 to 1868. He is described on the vital record card recording his death as "fruit culturist."
