Jefferson Gage Thurber, born in Unity, N.H. in 1807, was admitted to the bar in 1833, and moved to Monroe, Mich., where he married Mary Bartlett Gerrish of Boscawen, N.H. He held many public offices and wrote articles for newspapers and magazines. He died May 6, 1857 (or May 5, 1858). Their children were Edward G., Jefferson M., Henry Thomas born in 1854, Elizabeth T. (wife of Talcott E. Wing), Julia, and Mrs. Dunlap. Henry T. Thurber married Elizabeth Croul in 1898, and their children: Donald M.D. born in 1884, Marion (wife of Edwin Denby), Mrs.James A. Cameron, Henry T. born In 1890, and Cleveland born 1896. Thurber was a member of the law firm of Dickinson, Thurber & Stevenson. From 1892-1897 he served as secretary to President Cleveland.
