Unwin, Roland

Roland Unwin was a member of London’s T. Fisher Unwin publishing family. On September, 7, 1912, Roland Unwin set sail aboard the S. S. Minneapolis from London to New York for a nearly one year grand tour of the United States. Unwin spent the first six months in New York and then began travelling the country in earnest: Detroit, Chicago, Denver, Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods, Salt Lake City, Pendleton (OR), Spokane, Grand Forks, Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Grand Canyon, Lamy and Santa Fe (NM), Trinidad (CO), Ft. Worth, Austin, Houston, New Orleans. In New Orleans, he boarded the steamship Antilles to return to NY, and then on to Boston, Washington, Annapolis, and Baltimore. Finally, Unwin arrived back in London on July 16, having sailed from Philadelphia on the ship, Mesaba.
