Born in Brookton, N.Y., Nov. 3,1844. At age of seventeen, on Aug. 11, 1862, in Allegan, Mich., he enlisted for three years and served in Company L of the 4th Michigan Cavalry until he was mustered out in Nashville, Tenn., July 1, 1865.
