Collector of rare books and manuscripts, he graduated from John Hopkins University medical school. Infantry major in World War I, industrial surgeon for Hudson Motor Car Co. Established first moder industrial first aid units at Hudson. Retired in 1945 to spend time on his collection, consisting of 20,000 books and manuscripts. He was president of the Friends of Detroit Public Library and a member of the board of publication at Wayne State University. Died September 15, 1961, leaving four daughters; Evelyne, Justine, Mrs. A.B. Scott of Westfield, N.J., and Mrs. G.D. Gregory of Binghamton, New York. (from Obit. DN. 09/17/1961) (blue index cards)
