Robert E. Tucker, Sr. was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1924. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1947 with a degree in forestry. He worked for the Continental Can Company for most of his career, working seventeen years in their factory in Savannah, Georgia. Tucker retired in 1981 and continued to call Savannah his home until his death in 1998.
