Marino, Samuel J.

Samuel J. Marino was born in New Britain, Connecticut on November 29, 1916. He attended Louisiana State University on a music scholarship, receiving the B.S.L.S. in 1948, and the M.A. in 1949. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1962. Dr. Marino served as Head Librarian at McNeese State College in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and from there he moved to Denton, Texas, where he served as Professor in the School of Library Science at Texas Woman's University. Dr. Marino is a member of various organizations, including Phi Sigma Iota (Romance languages), Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Beta Phi Mu, Knights of Columbus 4th degree, American Library Association (life member), Texas Library Association, Kiwanis, and the American Legion. His military career includes service to Captain, AUS, WWII, Special Service Officer, Naples, Italy. His primary research interests are French in America, Italians in Texas, and Christopher Columbus.
