Karl Ashburn was born on November 7, 1904, in Whitesboro, Texas. He taught at McNeese State College from 1950-1958 and earned the position of Dean of Commerce. Dr. Ashburn was a prolific writer and economic theorist. He was editor of the Southwest Social Science Quarterly and also contributed to such publications as the Southwestern Historical Quarterly and Social Digest.
