Bulcock, Emily Hemans, 1877-1969

Emily Bulcock, poet and journalist, was born Emily Palmer at Tinana near Maryborough. She married Robert Bulcock in 1903. Her work appeared in the main Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne newspapers from 1889 untill 1966, and three volumes of her poetry were published. She was a foundation member of the Queensland Country Women's Association and of the Queensland Authors and Artists Association, later the Fellowship of Australian Writers (Queensland). She was appointed OBE in 1964 for her services to literature. The writer, Vance Palmer, was her brother.
