University of Utah. College of Social and Behavioral Science
The College of Social and Behavioral Science, in addition to the Colleges of Humanities and Science, was formed in 1970 when the College of Letters and Science was reorganized. During the period covered by the majority of this collection (1979-1989). The college consisted of the seven major departments of Anthropology, Economics, Family and Consumer Studies, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology; the three Reserve Officer Training Corps (R.O.T.C.) departments of Aerospace Studies, Military Science, and Naval Science; and the research and instructional institutes of the American West Center, the Archeological Center, the Center for Public Affairs and Administration, and the Hinckley Institute of Politics. The College also provided relevant courswork to the Middle East Center, the Minority Human Services Training Program, and the Women's Studies Program.

The College of Science was formed on July 1, 1970 when the College of Letters and Science was split into the Colleges of Humanities, Science, and Social and Behavioral Science. Between 1970 and 1991, the College was administered by the following deans: Pete D. Gardner (1971-1974), Frank E. Harris (1974-1975), E. Allan Davis (1975-1976), David M. Grant (1976-1985), Joseph L.
