Frank Reaugh was the son of George Washington and Clarinda Spilman Reaugh, born on December 6, 1860 near Jacksonville, Illinois. In 1876 his family moved to a small ranch near Terrell, Texas. Inspired by his mother and the landscape where he grew up with its natural environs, young Reaugh began drawing wildlife and scenic views.
