Fahnestock, Harris C. (Harris Charles), 1835-1914

Investment banker. His banking career began in his hometown of Harrisburg, Pa. In 1862 he became a partner in Jay Cooke and Company in the Washington, D.C. branch. After Cooke's bankruptcy in 1873, Fahnestock joined George F. Baker at the First National Bank of New York. He was a senior officer there for forty years.
