Dreier, Thomas, 1884-

Newspaper columnist.

Born in 1884 in Wisconsin, Thomas Dreier lived for many years in New Hampshire before moving to Snell Isle, St. Petersburg, in 1935. He was a proficient writer of editorials, corporate publications, and newspaper columns. His column in the St. Petersburg Times, "Brickbats and Bouquets," focused on the improvement and beauty of the St. Petersburg area. Dreier produced numerous business newsletters and other publications, including The Artsman (1903-1907), The Inn (1936-1940), The Jolly Samaritan (1925-1926, 1928), and The Troubadour (1928-1929). He wrote personal journals and newsletters, which focused on promoting "neighborliness and good will." Dreier was very active in many organizations. Dreier served as president of the Florida Library Association, chairman of the Florida State Library Board, director of the St. Petersburg Council on Human Relations, and as one of the founding members of the St. Petersburg Friends of the Library. He died at age 92 in 1976.
