Spiro Theodore Agnew (1918-1996) was Governor of Maryland from 1967 to 1969, and Vice President of the United States under President Richard M. Nixon, 1969 to 1973. He resigned as Vice President in October 1973, amid the Watergate scandal and charges of income tax evasion.
