Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church.

Due to a schism that resulted in a faction of members uniting with the Presbyterian Church in the United States (1881), the Presbyterian Church of Marion faced extinction, with the remaining two elders and twenty-five members unable to maintain it. The presbytery, which met at Owensboro in 1882, declared that the remaining members constituted the true church of Marion, with the rights and privileges of the church. Accordingly, the congregation was encouraged to reorganize in 1883. Because the seceding faction refused to give up the church books, new records for this church were started. Services were held at a school known as Chapel Hill, until a church building was built near the school.
