Jesse Flowers discusses his experiences during World War I. He was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad Company when the war broke out. He mentions the training camps, feelings toward President Woodrow Wilson, the trip overseas, belonging to the 22nd Engineer Regiment, his military duties, the front lines, reconstruction after the war, contact with both French and German soldiers, relationships between officers and enlisted men and the way his fellow soldiers felt about the war. Flowers also recalled the trip back to the United States and the changes he witnessed after the war.
