Adele Briscoe Looscan was born at Harrisburg but lived most of her life in Houston, Texas. Throughout her life she was active in social and literaty circles. In 1885 she helped organize the Laties' Reading Club of Houston and in subsequent years contributed articles to the Ladies' Messenger, Texas Magazine, Southwestern Quarterly, and other publications.
