Hutchings, William D. (William Davies), 1825-1903

William Daviess Hutchings (1825-1903) was born in Kentucky and practiced medicine in Wooster, and later Lexington, Scott County, Ind. He married Mathilda Koehler in 1861 and the union bore at least three children: Frederick, Robert, and Agnes. He served in the Indiana Legislature in 1869,and was a member of the Board of Pension Examiners. He died in Madison, Ind.

In 1844 Capt. William A. Hutchinson graduated from the Royal Navy School in Greenwich, England. He was commissioned Cadet in 1845 and served on the coast of Africa. In 1846 he resigned from the service as Captain and went to New Zealand. On May 14th, 1847 he arrived in California aboard a South Sea trading ship. In October of 1847 Capt.
