Machin, Thomas.
Thomas Machin (1744-1816) was an engineer who served during the Revolution in Massachusetts and New York. He is most noted for overseeing in 1777 a chain to be placed shore to shore at West Point to prevent British ships frpm attacking Albany, New York. In 1779 he made maps of Genesee County for Sullivan's expedition. Afterward he settled in Charleston, Montgomery County. The Corry Patent, was granted to George Clark (Lieutenant Governor of the Colony of New York) in 1737 and passed down through related George Clarks for several generations.
