Ullian, Frieda Silbert, 1900-1982.

Frieda Silbert Ullian, economist and civic volunteer, was born in Roxbury, Mass., on October 16, 1900. She attended Boston Girls' Latin School and received her A.B. from Radcliffe (1921) and Ed.M from Harvard School of Education (1922). After her marriage to Hyman B. Ullian and an interval in Michigan, Frieda Ullian resumed her studies in economics, receiving her A.M. (1935) and Ph.D (1938) from Radcliffe. She was successively research fellow at Radcliffe, U.S. Bureau of Statistics economist, tutor in economics at Radcliffe, and professor at Simmons College. She was president of the Radcliffe College Alumnae Association (1966-1967), Radcliffe Trustee, and member of many alumnae committees. Among her civic activities were membership of the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education (1965-1972) and many other Mass. education associations.
