Hausler, Charles A. (Charles Albert), 1889-1971.

Charles Hausler was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He apprenticed with Louis Sullivan in Chicago. On his return to St. Paul in 1911, Hausler formed a partnership with William Alban (1911-1913), Percy Bentley (1914), and Ernest Hartford (1915-1916). Hausler was St. Paul's first City Architect (1914-1923) and designed many city buildings, some in the Prairie School style. In 1922, Hausler was elected to the Minnesota State Senate, where he served 16 years. In 1939, he retired from the Senate and reestablished his architectural practice, which he maintained almost until his death in 1971.
