Constellation Similarity Assertions

Conyngham, Gustavus, 1744?-1819

As commander of Surprize and Revenge, Conyngham was responsible for the capture of numerous British vessels, the sale of whose cargo financed colonial forces. In 1779 he was captured by the British and incarcerated at Mill Prison. Having had his commission confiscated, he later experienced difficulty in making claims to Congress for prize monies due to him.

From the description of Gustavus Conyngham Collection, 1777-1826. (New-York Historical Society Library). WorldCat record id: 479556120
