Biographical notes:
Blanche Pfefferkorn (1884-1961) received her nursing diploma from the Johns Hopkins Hospital Nurses' Training School in 1911, and a BS degree from Columbia University in 1916. In 1928 she earned an MA in educational research from Columbia Teachers College. Pfefferkorn served as director of studies for the National League of Nursing Education for 17 years. As a pioneer in professional nursing research, she published a number of books and journal articles that had wide influence in the development of standards in nursing education and nursing service. She also contributed much time and effort to both local and national professional organizations.
