Biographical notes:

Julian William Cummings (1915-2002) was a Mormon pilot.

Julian William Cummings was born on December 17, 1915, the third child of Julian Moses and Fay Cummings. He was born in Utah. He attended school in Utah. He began flying Piper Cub planes as a young man. He served a mission to Argentina in 1935-1938. He was recruited for the experimental and high-risk aerial reconnaissance unit of the U.S. Army's Third Infantry Division, and served in the military for four years durnig World War II, from 1942 to 1946. He flew 485 missions during his service, participating in the North African campaign. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his service. He married Margorie Louise Caine Cummings on April 12, 1941, but they divorced in 1973. After that, he remarried Gwendolyn Kay Cummings. He died on February 17, 2002 and is buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
