A major landowner and attorney of Opelousas, Saint Landry Parish, La., Henry L. Garland served in the Louisiana Legislature, as well as holding other public offices. Born to Rice Garland and Celeste Lastrapes Sept. 27, 1826, he married Julia Bullard of Saint Landry Parish Oct. 28, 1852.
