Biographical notes:

Florien Giauque was an attorney in Cincinnati, Ohio, who invested in real estate in several states, including Louisiana. He promoted additions to Cameron, Mo., and Deshler, Ohio. When the Kansas City Southern Railroad built through Sabine Parish, La., he sold 32,700 acres of land to promoters connected with the railroad and was honored by having the town of Florien named for him.
