Biographical notes:

John Frederick Lloyd was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania and trained in architecture at Pennsylvania State University. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps. In 1960, Lloyd became the supervising architect for the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority in the Society Hill section of the city. He founded his firm, John Lloyd & Associates, at this time. His position at the Redevelopment Authority continued until 1971. Lloyd was a member of the Architectural Review Committee of the Philadelphia Historical Commission for eleven years, serving as chair for a portion of that time. Lloyd was a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the AIA between 1962 and 1968.
