Sidney Rigdon was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Ohio in 1819. He was converted to Mormonism, became a spokesman for Joseph Smith, and was thought by some to have written the Book of Mormon. He ran on the ticket with Smith for the Presidential election of 1844.
