Biographical notes:
Richard Lew Dawson war born in 1852 in Franklin County on a farm; he was writer of poetry, sketches and plays. Dawson's poetry was lyrical and humorous and often written with in a Hoosier dialect; he contributed poetry to the Chicago Current, Saturday Herald, the Indianapolis Journal, the Sentinel, and Century Magazine. In 1886, Dawson and several other people helped organize the Western Association of Writers.
