Oral history interviews conducted with Afro-Americans who helped shape the history of California in this century. Interview series were done on subjects of importance to California history, both governmental and social. Interviews provide information about the subject's personal life, struggle to overcome discrimination, achievement in public service, business, or professional life, and his or her unique contribution to the topic which the series addresses.
