Biographical notes:

Class of 1842, U.S. Naval Academy.

A native of Massachusetts, King was appointed, on the recommendation of Senator William Woodbridge, to the Naval Academy, entering the service from Michigan on March 25, 1842. He became Passed Midshipman in 1848, and was dropped from the service on Sept.13, 1855, under the terms of the Act of Feb. 28, 1855, which provided for invalid and other pensions. He and his wife Caroline were teachers of languages in Detroit, at their residence, no. 32 Macomb street. He died probably during the year 1868. (from Off.
