Each year Colony House, and after 1968, the merged organization, Colony-South Brooklyn Houses, has a large fund raising extravaganza usually known as Colony House Capers.

Colony-South Brooklyn Houses is the product of a 1968 merger between South Brooklyn Neighborhood Houses and Colony House. Among its activities and services are day care, senior citizen activities, community centers, employment counseling and placement services, and a residence for the adult retarded. It is a member of United Neighborhood Houses. Colony House was founded in 1913. South Brooklyn Neighborhood Houses was founded as Little Italy Neighborhood Association in 1904. One of its founders was Elizabeth Dutcher.
