John McNeill Smith (1884-1952), was a physician practicing in eastern North Carolina.
He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Smith was the son of Rev. Neill McNair Smith (1838-1910) and Flora Ann Lytch (1843-1926). He married Roberta Olivia Andrew (1894-1995), daughter of John Robert (J. R.) Andrew (1853-1925) and Rebecca Olivia Talbott (1852-1942).
J. McNeill Smith Sr. and Roberta Olivia Andrew had two children, McNeill Smith Jr. (1918-2011), a lawyer and politician, and Olivia Anne Smith (1923-2006).
