Vermont Society of Colonial Dames.
History notes:
The Vermont Society of Colonial Dames was founded on October 25, 1898, in Montpelier, Vermont, "to perpetuate the memory of the men and women who were founders of our Nation, by collecting and preserving records and relics of Colonial days, to the end that future generations may know and emulate their brave deeds." The Society is an independent state organization, formed when the National Society of Colonial Dames denied their eligibility, since Vermont is not one of the original thirteen colonies.
