Lloyd, Edward, 1744-1796

Edward Lloyd IV (December 15, 1744 – July 8, 1796) was an American planter from Talbot County, Maryland. He was a delegate to the Continental Congress for Maryland in 1783 and 1784.
Born at his family's plantation in Talbot County in the Province of Maryland, Lloyd completed preparatory studies. He was a member of the lower house of the General Assembly of Maryland from 1771 to 1774, in the Maryland State House of Delegates in 1780, and served in the State senate in 1781, 1786, and 1791. Lloyd was a delegate to the Continental Congress for Maryland in 1783 and 1784. He was a delegate to the Maryland State Convention of 1788, to vote whether Maryland should ratify the proposed Constitution of the United States.
Lloyd died at the Wye House estate he had built on his family's estate and was interred in the family burying ground there.
