Biographical notes:

John Baptista Ashe, revolutionary soldier and politician of North Carolina, held numerous offices after the war.

In Dec. 1786, Ashe was chosen as a delegate to the Continental Congress and represented his state during the year 1787. He was elected to the first and second Congresses, 1789-1793. Ashe was later elected to the governorship of North Carolina in 1802, but died in Halifax before taking office.
