Steele, Alan

Biographical notes:

Alan Steele (1905-1985), bookseller and publisher, worked for the firm William Jackson Ltd, London, promoting sales of young writers and developing the publishing side, including the series of Furnival books, 1930-1932. He helped to establish the separate publishing firm of Joiner & Steele, and in 1935 joined the printing house of Butler and Tanner, where he eventually became the head of the company.
