Biographical notes:
Mauricio J. Mixco is a linguist and professor emeritus of anthropological linguistics at the University of Utah. His career has focused on endangered Indigenous languages in the U.S. and Mexico, including the Kiliwa, Mandan, and Shoshone languages. Mixco was born in El Salvador and moved to California as a child. He received his B.A. and Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, specializing in Native American linguistics.
