Dively, Michael Augustus, 1938-
Biographical notes:
Michael A. Dively, a Republican, was born in 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio. He received a B.A. in American history and literature from Williams College, Williamston, Mass. He graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1964. He practiced law in Traverse City, Mich. before entering public service. He served as director of the Michigan Teenage Republicans in 1968-69. During his political career, he took an actice role in legislative matters regarding youth. He was the sponsor and primary author of the Age of Majority Act of 1971, which extended full adult responsibilities and rights to 18 year olds. He was also active in legislative matters dealing with Indians, migrant workers, and pollution. He did not seek re-election in 1974 and was subsequently appointed as Deputy Director of the Michigan Dept. of Commerce by Gov. William Milliken.
